Masters Programme in Dance Movement Psychotherapy
Selection and Admission procedure for those overseas students who meet the entry criteria for the Masters Programme in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, but are unable to attend for interview.
Part 1
- Read the given two extracts and write a reflection in which you consider how a person-centred approach and Dance Movement Psychotherapy might relate to each other
(We need your postal address and will send these extracts)
- The reflection should critically evaluate the potential of Dance Movement Psychotherapy as a creative process within a person centred framework to effect change
- Include quotes drawn from the texts in your work#
- This reflection will be 1000 words
Part 2
A DVD or video-tape in support of the candidate’s application which should contain the following elements:
A personal introduction spoken to camera which:
- briefly describes themselves
- identifies factors which have influenced their desire to undertake the programme
- relevant background information about the performances, solo and with partner, to follow on the DVD or video
The dance movement work:
- We will be looking for evidence that you can move freely on your own at all levels, improvise, including floor work and travelling. This should be of two minutes length and can be to music or in silence.
- When working with a partner (length two minutes ) we will be looking for ways that you share the space, engage in contact, explore the relationship.
- Finally, face the camera and draw our attention to any part of your movement exploration that you wish to reflect on
- You will not be judged on your dance technique or video presentation skills.
Part 3
A telephone interview by a member of Dance Voice, this will be at a pre arranged time and last no longer than 15 minutes
Areas covered will include previous experience, current interests, perceived personal strengths and challenges and career plans.
